This 5 day certificated course in basic needling with The Wiltshire Acupuncture Practice is to introduce those that may be interested in exploring a full time acupuncture course but would like an introduction to needling. COURSE DETAILS The course is taught in a friendly atmosphere, the emphases is on having fun as well as serious study and learning new ways to approach helping your patients. The course does not, nor is intended to qualify you as an acupuncturist, Included is an introduction to some basic needling on limbs, covering some points that will provide a valuable adjunct to your practice. You will be required to have some training in anatomy and physiology and will be accepted on the course at the discretion of the director. You also receive a comprehensive set of course notes to accompany your studies. He is an experienced teacher of oriental medicine and a qualified acupuncture and shiatsu practitioner. FEE The fee of £450* for the 5 days includes needles and all necessary equipment.* Insurance cost is extra. For those that are already belonging to a H & L Balen Block scheme it will cost £52.50 to add needling to your current insurance. This not only covers you while on the course but for practice afterwards with the necessary attendance certificate. The cost is £113.75 from H & L Balen for students that do not belong to a block scheme. INSURANCE *H & L Balen are on Tel. 01684 893006 once through press option 2 for the Block Scheme department The course has an certificated and provided you pass the necessary level to obtain your attendance certificate at the end of the course you will then be allowed to needle for the period of the insurance, renewable every year. If you are already insured with another organisation you may wish to contact them to arrange the necessary needling insurance. Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) do not offer at this time needling insurance at this time. You will need to supply a copy of your insurance certificate showing the needling insurance before the commencement of the course. (prices correct at time of upload). FURTHER NOTE Very specific ailments are identified in each of the areas that are covered, namely, Musculo Skeletal Imbalances First Aid point Needling Respiratory and Skin Disorders Digestive Disease Obstetric & Gynaecological Imbalances Within the course we look at each of the areas listed above at a very basic level and teach an introduction to the main pathological patterns, main aetiology, general pathologies, prime organs involved in the imbalances and then how specific problems and imbalances fit to these patterns as an overview. Students have commented that this is a good introduction to the arena of acupuncture and has helped them to understand the first basic principles. You will be able to use the basic prescriptions on limbs only confidently in the knowledge that you have understood the imbalance and diagnosed them correctly. It can be even at this very basic level a very useful adjunct to your practice.
1 day Needle Refinement course For those that have completed the 5 day certificated course in basic needling specifically designed for final stage and post graduate Shiatsu Students Needle refinement course will cover more basic imbalance and honing needling techniques. Not only will it give you the opportunity to revisit studies so far and meet others that have completed the course it will allow you to improve technique and move on to a more sophisticated level. There will be a strong focus on 5 element styles of treatment, texture of energy and how to find and correctly adjust that energy. Two needles for imbalances using the wood, fire, earth, metal and water points will be used to harmonise. Course details to be posted soon. A day packed with information and practical exploration for those wishing to expand their knowledge and add an invaluable tools to their shiatsu practice. MOXA Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing. You will learn a variety of Moxibustion techniques. You will see how the application of mild heat at selected points is used to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of ki, its applications for deficient, cold or damp conditions and its use for boosting immunity and maintaining general health. On the day you will study the history, precautions, and applications for using Moxa. CUPPING And you learn about Cupping where small glass jars are heated to create a vacuum and then placed at strategic points on the skin to promote the flow of ki and blood and help local congestion. You will see how Cupping opens the meridians, releases toxins, activates lymphatic system and also helps in the treatment of pain, gastrointestinal disorders, lung diseases especially chronic cough and asthma.
